All-time meetings: Comilla Victorians W5, Rangpur Riders W4
Last meeting: Rangpur Riders beat Comilla Victorians by 9 wickets

Coach: Mohammad Salahuddin

Captain: Imrul Kayes

  • Comilla Victorians have won their last four matches in a row and come into this final group stage match having won six of their last seven also as they face the Rangpur Riders to decide who finishes on top spot.

  • Despite having already qualified for the final four, they put in another strong display to beat Dhaka Dynamites by one run on Friday and their bowling came to the fore once again as they defended a relatively low total of 127.
  • Evin Lewis continues to be an injury concern and he was struggling while batting and fielding so he will surely be rested here with Liam Dawson expected to come into the side for this game so Lewis is rested for the play-offs.

Coach: Tom Moody

Captain: Mashrafe Mortaza

  • The Riders currently sit just behind the Victorians in the ladder but they can play this match with freedom knowing that they are guaranteed to finish in the top two places after their superb run of five consecutive victories.

  • They have been dealt a blow however with an injury to Alex Hales who has returned to England for treatment on his shoulder so they will have to do without one of their star batsmen and they will bring in another overseas player with Sean Williams a candidate to come into the side.

  • With Hales out, that does increase the pressure on West Indies’ star Chris Gayle to find some form as his play has been somewhat laboured in the tournament so far in contrast to Hales, Rossouw and De Villiers, so they will need him to step up now.

This match could well be a dress rehearsal for what could be the Bangladesh Premier League final as these two teams have arguably been the best two in the group stage. The Riders have been dealt a blow by the loss of Hales and that could impact them so it will be interesting to see how they replace him. The Victorians do not have the firepower of the Riders, but they do have a much better balance in their team and that could be key here. That said, so much in this match depends on motivation and there may be players rested, which makes it somewhat unpredictable.
