THE TEAM NEWS

COMILLA VICTORIANS

Coach: Mohammad Salahuddin

Captain: Imrul Kayes

  • Comilla Victorians succumbed to defeat on Monday against Rajshahi Kings by 38 runs as they could not capitalise on their great start which saw them reduce the Kings to 28/3 as the partnership of 148 between Evans and Ten Doeschate saw them concede 176 which they ultimately fell well short of.

  • The Victorians started well in the chase but none of their batsmen could go on to make a big score despite getting starts and that has been the case the whole tournament with just two batsmen having hit a half century to date.

  • That may see them bring back Evin Lewis to the side to bolster their batting at the expense of Wahab Riaz who has struggled in the last two matches and proved expensive so that is one possible change although they are unlikely to make too many kneejerk reactions to the defeat.

DHAKA DYNAMITES

Coach: Khaled Mahmud

Captain: Shakib Al Hasan

  • Dhaka Dynamites lost their second game in three matches on Tuesday as they lost to Chittagong Vikings on the penultimate ball as Robbie Frylinck smashed 19 runs from Mohor Sheikh’s final over as the Dynamites grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory.

  • The absence of Hazratullah Zazai and Kieron Pollard has weakened their batting line-up and they have not been able to produce the same fireworks from earlier in the tournament so the pressure is on overseas stars Heino Kuhn and Darwish Rasooli

  • The reliance on captain Shakib Al Hasan remains huge as he topscored and took 4/16 on Monday so they need some other players to step up and support him, but they need more from both their batting and bowling units.

THE PREDICTION

Monday saw both of these teams lose in miserable fashion and their performances were significantly below par. The Victorians are struggling without their batsmen converting their starts into big scores while the Dynamites' bowling unit is unable to produce the goods. If their batting does not fire, the bowling attack is proving unable to close matches out, and the Victorians may nick this one but it really does depend on which team can bounce back from poor performances.
