All-time meetings: Chittagong Vikings W3, Sylhet Sixers W1
Last meeting: Sylhet Sixers beat Chittagong Vikings by 10 wickets

Coach: Nurul Abedin

Captain: Mushfiqur Rahim

  • Chittagong Vikings got off to a fabulous start in the first match of the BPL 2019 season by beating Rangpur Riders by three wickets in what proved to be a thrilling if low scoring match to kick off the tournament.

  • South African all-rounder Robbie Frylinck proved to be the key man in the victory taking 4/14 from his four overs to help bowl the Riders out for just 98 and that should cement his position in the team but they will aim to find a spot for Luke Ronchi as he was a standout player in the BPL last time out.

  • It is unlikely however that they will make too many changes if any after the opening win though they will look to improve with the bat especially given the Sixers’ strength that they will have to match themselves.

Coach: Waqar Younis

Captain: David Warner

  • Sylhet Sixers started their BPL campaign with a defeat as the side led by David Warner was beaten by four wickets by Steve Smith’s Comilla Victorians side in their opening match so they will look to bounce back here.

  • Warner’s lack of cricket in the last nine months was evident in his knock of 14 from 13 balls but he will be keen to get more time in the middle to regain his form, although they will need other batsmen like Liton Das to raise their game and contribute more too.

  • Overseas stars Mohammad Irfan and Lamichhane did well with the ball but they may decide to withdraw one of those for an all-rounder to give them more strength and depth to the middle order with Mohammad Nawaz a candidate to come in.

Contrasting starts for these two teams but both of them will expect to make significant improvements based on their opening performances. The Sixers especially will be confident of bouncing back as they have some star players in their ranks but they have to improve throughout. The Vikings have one of the weaker teams on paper but they started with a win and will look to build on that. However, expect the Sixers to bounce back here and their bowling unit to be the decisive factor in winning this game.
