Simon Whitlock 16-22 Gary Anderson
Simon Whitlock is out of contention for the play-offs having picked up only one win during his last 10 Premier League matches. The Wizard has lost each of his last four games in the tournament.
Last Thursday night he was defeated 7-1 by both Michael Smith and Daryl Gurney; overall, he has won a total of just six legs during his last four Premier League matches.
Whitlock has averaged under 90 in four of his last five Premier League matches and he has the lowest tournament average of all the remaining eight players left in the tournament.
Gary Anderson backed up his excellent performances in Rotterdam last Wednesday by averaging just under 110 in a 7-3 win over Daryl Gurney on Thursday evening.
The Flying Scotsman has now won six of his last seven Premier League matches and has suffered only one defeat during his last ten fixtures in the competition.
Anderson has moved into second place in the league table, just a point behind Michael van Gerwen, though Anderson has played one game more than the Dutchman.
Gary Anderson is currently the in-form player in the Premier League. He averaged around 110 in two of his three matches in Rotterdam last week and if he continues this form into the play-offs it will take something very special to stop him winning a third Premier League title. Simon Whitlock has been stuttering along over the last few weeks; he is feeling under-par due to illness and this is shown in the standard of his play.
Even if Whitlock was feeling 100% healthy, he would struggle to cope with a rampant Anderson so there doesn’t appear to be much hope of him halting the relentless progress of the Scotsman in this encounter.
