Catalans’ miserable start to the season continued as they went down to a third consecutive defeat away at Hull KR last week.
Head coach Steve McNamara has rung the changes this week with Louis Anderson, Benjamin Jullien, Michael McIllorum and Sam Moa returning. There is also a place in the 19-man squad for Tony Gigot after his two-year ban by the France anti-doping agency was dismissed.
Catalans have conceded 28 points per game to start this season which is a big concern for the French outfit, particularly as they have allowed 25 points or more in five of the last six Super League meetings between the two sides.
Wakefield were lucky to claim the win against Salford in their last outing with a last-minute missed conversion from the Red Devils’ Gareth O’Brien ensuring they took both points.
Head coach Chris Chester has made just the one change to his 19-man squad with Keegan Hirst making way for Jordan Baldwinson, who will make his Wakefield debut.
Wakefield have won four of the last five Super League meetings between the two sides, including winning by a 20-point margin in their previous two victories.
Wakefield Trinity have won 4 of the last 5 Super League meetings between the two sides
There has been a total of 297 points scored in the last 6 Super League meetings between the two sides at an average of 49.5 per game
There has been a total of 54 tries scored in the last 6 Super League meetings between the two sides at an average of 9 per game
Catalans Dragons have conceded 25 points or more in 5 of the last 6 Super League meetings between the two sides
Wakefield Trinity's Ben Jones Bishop has scored 7 tries in his last 3 Super League meetings between the two sides
Wakefield Trinity have won the last 2 Super League meetings between the two sides by a 20 point margin
Catalans’ start to the season has already raised various questions about their ability to avoid the drop this season. They have lost all three of their games and now face a Wakefield side who have won both of their games to begin the season. Wakefield have carried on where they left off last season and having won four of the last five Super League games between the two, they should improve that record here.
