  • St George’s unbeaten start to the season continued as they made it four wins on the spin to maintain their place at the top of the NRL ladder. They were once again impressive as they put in a professional performance to defeat Newcastle 30-12.
  • Hame Sele is named on the bench in the only change to last week’s 17 but Jeremy Latimore is once again expected to come into the side before kick-off.
  • St George controlled the game last week and showed their class throughout the game. They completed at 86% which allowed them to see 59% of the ball. They made seven linebreaks compared to Newcastle’s two whilst also forcing four drop outs without conceding themselves.

Head Coach: Anthony Seibold

Starting 13: Johnston, Gagai, Inglis, Hunt, Jennings, Walker, Reynolds, T. Burgess, Cook, G. Burgess, Sutton, Crichton, Murray – Interchanges: Doueihi, Nicholls, Tatola – Reserves: Clark, Burns, Turner

Unavailable: Zane Musgrove, Jesse Arthars, Campbell Graham, Tyrell Fuimaono, Sam Burgess

  • South Sydney produced a brilliant late comeback to defeat Canterbury last weekend. They were six points behind with as many minutes left before back-to-back tries saw them secure a 20-16 win.
  • Sam Burgess failed to win his battle with the judiciary and will miss two-matches as a result. He is replaced in the front row by brother George who will line-up alongside his twin, Tom. In better news for the Rabbitohs, Adam Reynolds is set to return from injury.
  • The Rabbitohs had to dig deep to claim the win last week but will have to be much better this week if they are to overcome the league leaders. They completed at 72% whilst also committing 13 errors, two figures in particular that will need to improve against the Dragons this week.

St George’s red-hot start to the season shows no signs of ending any time soon and they will be confident of winning their fifth game in a row when they host South Sydney at Jubilee Oval. The Dragons are averaging 34.5 points per game with them only failing to break the 30-point mark once from their opening four games. It’s bittersweet team news for the Rabbitohs with Sam Burgess copping a ban but Adam Reynolds’ return will give them a boost. The Rabbitohs still top the metres made chart after four rounds with 6,688 metres. However, the Dragons are just behind them with 6,453 which doesn’t give the Rabbitohs much advantage on their biggest asset this season. The Dragons should have too much here and could well post more than 30 points once again.
