  • North Queensland fell to another disappointing defeat as they were beaten by Wests Tigers last week. The Cowboys are now six points off the top 8 and face an uphill battle to make the finals after their 20-12 loss.

  • After another below-par performance, Paul Green has resisted calls to alter his side with the same 17 named as last week.

  • The Cowboys were poor with ball-in-hand once again as they completed at just 70% and didn’t give themselves a chance to apply pressure to the Tigers. They made 15 errors in total as they continue to struggle to find any sort of consistency and have slumped to a 3-7 record for the season.

Head Coach: Anthony Seibold

Starting 13: Johnston, Graham, Inglis, Gagai, Hunt, Walker, Reynolds, T. Burgess, Cook, G. Burgess, Sutton, Crichton, S. Burgess – Interchanges: Murray, Doueihi, Clark, Tatola – Reserves: Nicholls, Burns

Unavailable: Zane Musgrove, Jesse Arthars, Tyrell Fuimaono, Richie Kennar, Robert Jennings

  • After quietly going about their business all season, the South Sydney laid down a marker as they toppled league leaders St George last week. The Rabbitohs were superb and led the game from the first minute thanks to Hymel Hunt’s try as they saw off the Dragons 24-10.

  • Unsurprisingly, Anthony Seibold goes with the same 17 that defeated the Dragons last week as his side search for a third straight win.

  • Last week’s win saw the Rabbitohs overtake the Dragons for most tries scored in the NRL this season. The Rabbitohs have now scored 43, one more than the Dragons with 42 as their new style of play this season continues to reap rewards.

South Sydney showed that they are the real deal this season with an impressive win over table-toppers St George last week and will be hoping to continue their impressive form as they travel to Townsville to face North Queensland. The Cowboys have won just three of their 10 games so far this season with the finals already looking out of their reach. The Rabbitohs on the other hand have won four of their last five games as they continue to impress under new head coach Anthony Seibold. Souths will be buoyant after last week and will be difficult to stop with the Cowboys’ woes being compounded.
