THE STATISTICS

THE LOWDOWN

SEA EAGLES

Head Coach: Trent Barrett

Starting 13: T. Trbojevic, Taufua, Suli, Kelly, Parker, Walker, Cherry-Evans, Fonua-Blake, Fainu, Taupau, Thompson, Lane, J. Trbojevic – Interchanges: Hodkinson, Tanginoa, Winterstein, Perrett – Reserves: M. Wright, Paseka

  • Manly won their second game in a row as they defeated Canterbury last week. The Sea Eagles scored three second half tries after they had failed to cross the whitewash in the first period which helped them to an 18-6 win.

  • Lloyd Perrett returns to the side, coming onto the bench for Taniela Paseka in the only change for Manly.

  • It’s been a turbulent week off the field once again for the Sea Eagles with speculation surrounding the future of head coach Trent Barrett rife.

TITANS

Head Coach: Garth Brennan

Starting 13: Brimson, Don, Hurrell, Lee, Sami, Elgey, Taylor, Wallace, Peats, James, Proctor, Hipgrave, Arrow – Interchanges: Rein, Fotuaika, Stockwell, Matthews – Reserves: Elliot, Cartwright

Unavailable: Kyle Flanagan, Max King, Dale Copley, Michael Gordon

  • Gold Coast blew a great chance to beat Penrith last week. The Titans conceded two late tries that sent the game to golden point and it was Nathan Cleary who settled the contest with a drop goal three minutes into proceedings to condemn Gold Coast to a 16-17 loss.

  • Brenko Lee is back in the side after he recovered from a hamstring injury. Brendan Elliot is the man to make way.

  • The Titans are just two points off the foot of the NRL ladder having won just one of their last six games.

THE PREDICTION

Manly will be hoping to put this week’s off the field drama behind them as Trent Barrett’s future continues to be under scrutiny. He’s apparently been told he will be relieved of his duties at the end of the year and it will be interesting to see how the Sea Eagles react in this game against the Titans. It will also be intriguing to see how Gold Coast react to losing last week’s game with Penrith in golden point defeat having been leading by 10 points with just six minutes remaining. Whoever comes out on top in this game is likely to be safe from the wooden spoon and despite their problems this week, Manly can add a third straight win.
