Head Coach: Wayne Bennett

  • Brisbane look set for a tilt at the Grand Final after they continued their build-up for finals football with an impressive win over Sydney Roosters. The Broncos forced the Roosters into plenty of mistakes as they ran out 8-22 winners.

  • Andrew McCullough will sit this one out due to the concussion he suffered in last week’s encounter with the Roosters.

  • The Broncos will smell blood with them knowing a big win of 24 points or more will see them take a home tie in next week’s play-off games. After two impressive wins in a row, Brisbane will fancy their chances against the lowly Sea Eagles.

Head Coach: Trent Barrett

Starting 13: T. Trbojevic, M. Wright, Suli, Kelly, Parker, Walker, Cherry-Evans, Fonua-Blake, Fainu, Taupau, Thompson, Lane, J. Trbojevic – Interchanges: Hodkinson, Tanginoa, Gosiewski, Paseka – Reserves: Winterstein, Funa

Unavailable: Curtis Sironen, Lachlan Croker, Api Koroisau, Akuila Uate, Jorge Taufua

  • Manly almost came back from 14 points behind in the final quarter but Daly Cherry-Evans’ missed penalty attempt from long-range on the hooter meant his side couldn’t force golden point against Wests Tigers as they lost 22-20.

  • Jorge Taufua is out injured with Matt Wright replacing him on the wing. Lloyd Perrett has been dropped for the Sea Eagles’ last game with Taniela Paseka taking his place.

  • The season can’t come to an end quickly enough for Manly after plenty of issues off the field which looks to have had an effect on the field. The Sea Eagles should avoid the wooden spoon but likely to finish just one place off the bottom of the ladder.

Brisbane can secure a home game in the play-offs with a big win here and they will likely be going all-out to ensure they do just that. It could make a huge difference in how far the Broncos progress with them using this opportunity to know exactly what result they need to achieve to their advantage. They host lowly Manly with the Sea Eagles sitting just one spot off the foot of the ladder after a poor season. Trent Barrett still doesn’t know if this will be his last game in charge with off-field issues a huge problem for the Sea Eagles. Those distractions may again be in place and the Broncos can benefit to seal a big win and with it, a home tie in the play-offs.
