Coach: Eric Simons

Captain: Imran Tahir

  • The Nelson Mandela Bay Giants returned to winning ways last time as they comfortably beat the Paarl Rocks on Friday by 48 runs and they are all but assured of a place in the knockout stage now.

  • The most pleasing win over the Paarl Rocks was the fact that their top five batsmen all contributed to the total of 168/9 and they will need to be on their game once again as they face a strong Jozi Stars team.

  • Magala, Smuts and Morris were in impressive form with the ball in that match, and the team is doing so well due to the fact that many of their lesser known local South African players are producing the goods, so they will look for that to continue.

Coach: Enoch Nkwe

Captain: Dane Vilas

  • Despite only winning two of their five matches so far, the Jozi Stars arguably have one of the best batting line-ups in the tournament, which they showed by hitting 230/3 against the Durban Heat last time out.

  • The return from international duty of Hendricks and Rabada has had a big impact on this team, and they look significantly stronger with both bat and ball since they came back from Australia with both playing well.

  • The Stars are currently sat in fourth spot but they will be keen to cement that place and put distance between them and the Spartans and Heat below them, so a win here will be key to doing that.

The Bay Giants are in fine for right now and are playing some impressive cricket in all facets of the game. Jozi Stars have a formidable batting line-up and are looking much stronger in recent matches, so they will provide a stern test for the hosts. With Hendricks on form, and the Stars’ bowling unit looking much better with Rabada in the side, they could spring something of a surprise here in what should be a close fought match.
