Jozi Stars beat Cape Town Blitz by 50 runs

Coach: Ashwell Prince

Captain: Quinton de Kock

  • Cape Town Blitz edged the group stage by a single point over Jozi Stars so they have home advantage and after a bright start to the tournament, they have been a little inconsistent in the second half of it so they will need to produce one of their better displays here.

  • Skipper Quinton de Kock has been the key man since joining the team after missing their first three matches of the tournament but their reliance on him has arguably been too great as if he performs they win, but if he struggles then the team has so they need him to fire.

  • The middle order desperately needs to improve here especially if De Kock does fail while their bowling unit has to support Dale Steyn better with Adams, Siboto and Burger needing to bowling well against the best batting line-up in the competition.

Coach: Enoch Nkwe

Captain: Dane Vilas

  • The Jozi Stars reached the final after the Eliminator was washed out and they qualified due to finishing above Paarl Rocks in the standings and they have arguably been the form team in the second half of the tournament.

  • Their batting line-up has been firing on all cylinders and they will be keen to bat first for that reason as they have several of their top six in tremendous form to take up the slack even if one of them fails to produce.

  • Duanne Olivier is the competition’s leading wicket-taker and he will be key to their hopes here but they have Kagiso Rabada who will relish the opportunity of trying to get De Kock out and that could be the key head-to-head battle here.

The team that has batted first has won the previous meetings between these two sides as both have managed to put big scores om the board and the chasing team has struggled both times with each having a win apiece. The MSL comes to an end with the best two teams facing off and it promises to be a cracker. The Blitz were superb in the first half and have produced some stunning displays with De Kock being key to that. They do however over rely on him and the risk of him not firing especially under the pressure of that reliance is high. The Stars have several players capable of producing the goods with the bat and they have the edge in terms of bowling too. Form is also on their side and after already having one in Cape Town earlier in the tournament on a good batting strip, they have to be favoured here.
