Jozi Stars beat Durban Heat by 53 runs

Coach: Grant Morgan

Captain: Albie Morkel

  • Durban Heat were frustrated by the rain last time out as their match against the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants was washed out but that may have been a blessing for them as the Bay Giants had racked up 121/2 off 13.3 overs before the rain came so they remain rock bottom.

  • That result has seen the Heat eliminated from the competition now so they are purely playing for pride which is a huge disappointment given the fact Rashid Khan only became available for selection in that match against the Bay Giants.

  • There is every chance that they will name an unchanged side for this match and they will look to bat first ideally on a pitch that looked a good one for the batsmen on Wednesday especially after the Jozi Stars beat them last time by batting first and racking up 230/3.

Coach: Enoch Nkwe

Captain: Dane Vilas

  • The Stars are in fine form right now having won their last 3 Mzansi Super League matches, and they have just been overpowering their opposition with some stunning batting as they possess the strongest line-up in the tournament.

  • The strength of the batting line-up is such that they are able to play with five front line bowlers so as long as the likes of Reeza Hendricks continue their sensational recent form, they have a well-balanced team.

  • Gayle returned to the team last time out against the Cape Town Blitz but could only muster six runs from nine balls and he will be looking to contribute more here especially on a pitch that should favour the batsmen.

Durban Heat have nothing but pride to play for after being eliminated last time out with three matches remaining. While they may be able to play with more freedom now, any loss of focus and motivation will only see them struggle even more here. The pitch looked to favour the batsmen in the last match at Kingsmead and that surely has to favour the Jozi Stars whose batsmen are on fire right now. They have a well-balanced team and they should have far too much for the Heat here.
