Cape Town Blitz beat Durban Heat by 3 wickets

Coach: Ashwell Prince

Captain: Quinton de Kock

  • Cape Town Blitz have shown signs of getting back to their best in recent games after a mini blip in the middle of the group stage, and they will look to carry some momentum into the knockout phase.

  • Skipper Quinton de Kock was in stunning form once again last time out as he smashed 93 from 47 balls as the Blitz overcame the Paarl Rocks with ease as they continue to rely heavily on their star opening batsmen.

  • Dale Steyn produced some good bowling against the Rocks but their entire bowling unit looked good overall with Burger taking a couple more wickets, so with both their batting and bowling departments playing well, they have plenty of quality all-round.

Coach: Grant Morgan

Captain: Albie Morkel

  • If the MSL’s bottom club Durban Heat did not think it could get any worse, it did last time out as they conceded 14 off the last two balls to somehow lose against Jozi Stars when they looked to have the win in the bag.

  • Marchant de Lange was the guilty man with the ball as he bowled two high leg-side no-balls that were both dispatched for six and his confidence will have taken a major knock from that so it would be no surprise to see him left out of the side here.

  • Despite already being eliminated, the Heat competed really well in that match against the Stars so they continue to play hard as they aim to salvage some pride and they will do so once again in Cape Town.

On paper, everything points towards the home team here as the Blitz have been the outstanding team during the group stage, while Durban Heat have been woeful. Heat have plenty of quality in their ranks but they have just not been performing with the bat especially but the likes of Steyn, Rashid Khan and Maharaj did well last time out. They could cause some problems to the Blitz here as neither team has anything to really play for here with their positions already established. That could see a closer game than many would expected as the first match between them was and while it is hard to go against the Blitz, do not rule out the Heat pushing them all the way.
