Wasps 19-30 Bristol

Head Coach: David Young

  • Having started the season excellently, Wasps are on a seven-game winless run in all competitions. Most recently, they were overpowered 36-17 by Northampton Saints.

  • Despite that poor run, they currently sit fourth in the table, knowing a win could see them leapfrog Gloucester in third who travel to table-topping Exeter Chiefs.

  • Head coach David Young admitted after the defeat that they played extremely poorly in all phases of the game, but insists they have the character to get themselves out of this slump.

Head Coach: Pat Lam

  • Bristol are coming off the back of a heartbreaking 31-29 loss to the Exeter Chiefs thanks to a last-minute try in added time.

  • The Bears have had a mixed bag to start this season, with only two wins coming in the league so far but three wins coming in their various cup competitions. Their poor start to the season means they currently lie 10th in the table.

  • Bristol will be making the trip up to Coventry looking for their first away win of the season in the Premiership knowing a win could catapult them up the table.

The two sides will know each other extremely well having played each other earlier this month in the Premiership Rugby Cup in an encounter in which Bristol came out on top. Wasps’ recent poor form must be a concern for David Young but they may have Italy centre Michele Campagnaro available after he signed on a short-term deal. Bristol will take a lot of positives from their performance against Exeter - despite the result - but Wasps should have enough quality to halt their seven-game winless run and beat Bristol.
