  • Despite winning their opening match, there was plenty of disappointment around Uruguay's performance in the 1-0 win over Egypt as they struggled to create much from midfield while their key men up front were poor with Suarez especially being well off the pace.
  • De Arrascaeta and possibly Nandez may both drop out of the team with Rodriguez and Sanchez potential replacements for the duo as they try to improve their creativity against the Saudis who will surely approach this match defensively.

Predicted line-up (4-4-2):

Varela, Godin, Gimenez, Caceres

Sanchez, Bentancur, Vecino, Rodriguez

Cavani, Suarez

Unavailable: None

Doubtful: None

  • Saudi Arabia have been the only team so far to look out of their depth in the 5-0 loss to Russia and will want to regain some pride here against a Uruguayan team that will be motivated to tear them apart too.
  • Coach Juan Antonio Pizzi will consider changes so the likes of Al Muwallad, Babhir and Aseri could all be handed starting spots for this one if he does make changes.
  • Defensively they struggled to contain Russia throughout the side and they need to improve significantly against a motivated Cavani/Suarez duo that will be desperate to get on the scoresheet.

Predicted line-up (4-2-3-1):

Al Maiouf

Al Burayk, Omar Hawsawi, Osama Hawsawi, Al Shahrani

Al Faraj, Otayf

Al Shehri, Al Jassim, Al Dawsari

Al Sahlawi

Unavailable: None

Doubtful: Kanno

Uruguay received plenty of criticism for their opening performance against Egypt and they will be motivated to improve and get another win. Both Suarez and Cavani were below par and they will set the tone for this game early in the match. That does not bode well for a Saudi Arabia side who were woeful against Russia and could suffer another heavy loss at the hands of Suarez and company. They were shocking in that opening game and looked incapable of holding an average Russian side, so it will take a major improvement to stop Uruguay here.
