  • Poland have managed to reach the World Cup after a 12-year absence and there is plenty of positivity coming into the tournament after an impressive qualifying campaign and several of their key players in the peak of their careers.
  • Robert Lewandowski proved himself to be one of the most dangerous strikers in Europe as he was top scorer in qualifying with 16 goals and he will have Grosicki and Zielinski providing him throughout.
  • They have plenty of creativity and firepower in the team with Lewandowski and Milik, but defensively they can be vulnerable at times and the loss of Glik to injury before the tournament could put a major dent in their aspirations.

Predicted line-up (4-4-1-1):

Piszczek, Bednarek, Pazdan, Rybus

Blaszczykowski, Linetty, Krychowiak, Grosicki

  • Senegal enjoyed an impressive qualifying campaign which saw them rack up the goals and make their second World Cup appearance and they are arguably Africa’s best hopes to progress the furthest in Russia.
  • The squad is packed with Premier League talent and they will rely on the likes of Mane, Diouf, Gueye and Kouyate in Russia who provide a solid core to the team with good experience.
  • In Koulibaly and Mane, they have arguably two of the best players from Africa and they have high hopes of making the knockout phase if they can fulfil their potential and make a good start to the tournament here.

Predicted line-up (4-3-3):

Gassama, Wague, Koulibaly, Sabaly

N'Diaye, Gueye, Kouyate

Mane, Diouf, Keita Balde

In what appears to be one of the more evenly balanced and competitive groups, both of these teams will target making the knockout rounds. Senegal are the strongest of all the African teams and should progress the furthest and they have good balance throughout their team that will be difficult to break down. Poland have plenty of goal threat but may just lack the quality in defence to stop Senegal. Another tough one to call here but Senegal are favoured in this one.
