The South Americans progressed through a qualifying match with New Zealand to reach Russia but their overall form in the last year has been excellent, going 13 matches unbeaten in the build-up to this tournament.
They were handed a massive boost as their appeal over the suspension of their veteran captain Guerrero has been upheld though it remains to be seen as to whether he will be fit enough to come straight into the starting 11 or whether Farfan will start in attack.
Regular starting central defender Rodriguez is their only doubt coming into this opening game but he should be passed fit for this clash between the two sides likely to be vying for second spot behind France.
Predicted line-up (4-3-3):
Advincula, Ramos, Rodriguez, Trauco
Yotun, Tapia, Flores
Carrillo, Farfan, Cueva
Denmark also had to qualify for the final tournament via a play-off as they overcame a tough Republic of Ireland side thanks to Christian Eriksen's stunning hat-trick in a 5-1 win in Dublin to send them to Russia.
Eriksen is unquestionably the star attraction for the Danes and will be looking to elevate himself among the elite playmakers in the world with a good tournament here which is well within his capabilities.
Throughout the team, they have some good experienced professionals and while Eriksen is arguably their only world class talent, they possess plenty of all round quality along with a good work ethic to produce some good displays and compete well at this tournament.
Predicted line-up (4-2-3-1):
Christensen, Kjaer, M. Jorgensen, Larsen
Poulsen, Eriksen, Sisto
This could be one of the more open games in the opening round of matches as these two teams will compete hard for second spot along with France. Denmark's style will see them play positively while Peru come into the tournament in excellent form, so expect both teams to score in an entertaining game. We just edge the Danes between the two teams, but not enough to consider them to win this game, so just consider the goal markets in this one.
