All-time meetings: Trinbago Knight Riders W6, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots W2

Coach: Simon Katich

Captain: Dwayne Bravo

  • The Knight Riders play their third match in four days having won the first game comprehensively but were coasting to victory against the Jamaica Tallawahs on Friday before Andre Russell produced some sensational hitting to snatch victory away from them.

  • They will be desperate to bounce back here and despite the loss on Friday, they will not be too disheartened given that so much of their play was positive and would have won that match comfortably had it not been for Russell’s heroics.

  • There will be no knee-jerk reactions following that loss and they will likely go unchanged but they will expect an improved display by their bowling unit against Chris Gayle and the Patriots.

Coach: Donovan Miller

Captain: Chris Gayle

  • The Patriots opened their CPL2018 campaign with a defeat against Guyana as they laboured to 146/5 and the Amazon Warriors comfortably knocked it off in just 16.3 overs despite Chris Gayle’s knock of 86.

  • They will hope that some of the other batsmen around Gayle can contribute here as they struggled to hit at a reasonable strike rate with the likes of Lewis, Cooper and Cutting really struggling to adapt to the slow pitch.

  • Nepalese leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane enjoyed a stunning debut despite the loss as he took the wicket of Chadwick Walton with his first delivery of the match and went on to take 2/12 from his 4 overs as he looks set to be the new revelation of the CPL.

The Knight Riders came away on Friday wondering how they lost to the Tallawahs after Andre Russell’s stunning display with bat and ball. They could still take plenty of positives from that match and it would have been totally different had Russell not been dropped on his first ball. The Patriots were reasonable in the first game but did not quite fire as they struggled to make an impact with the bat other than Gayle. They cannot rely on him the whole time however and they need others to step up. They face a formidable batting line-up in the Knight Riders and will need to match them. That however, will be a tough ask and the Knight Riders should bounce back with a win here.
