All-time meetings: Guyana Amazon Warriors W6, Barbados Tridents W3

Coach: Johan Botha

Captain: Shoaib Malik

  • The Guyana Amazon Warriors have made an excellent start to the CPL 2018 with two wins from two matches and they have excelled on their home turf which has been difficult to score on and favours the bowlers notably.

  • The Warriors’ bowling unit once again shone against the St Lucia Stars last time out with Tahir taking 2/23 and Emrit picking up 3/26 as they managed to frustrate and then take wickets against the Stars.

  • This team is incredibly well balanced at the moment which will give them good confidence and the fact the top order got runs last time out will also boost them with Walton and Ronchi getting to grips with the pitch nicely.

Coach: Robin Singh

Captain: Jason Holder

  • The Tridents kick off their CPL 2018 campaign later than any other team but they have plenty of ambitions for the tournament as they have assembled a star-studded team to play under skipper Jason Holder.

  • They are without two of their overseas’ signings in Shakib Al Hasan and Junaid Khan but they brought in Steve Smith and Mohammad Irfan as two quality replacements and their batting especially looks formidable.

  • With locals such as Roston Chase, Dwayne Smith and Shai Hope, they have plenty of quality and that is only enhanced further by Martin Guptill, Hashim Amla, Steve Smith and Wahab Riaz as this is as strong as any team on paper.

Both the Stars and the Patriots struggled on the Providence pitch and that will likely be a factor for the Tridents who play their first game here and may be a little rusty. This is not the type of pitch to start a campaign on but the Tridents have an incredibly strong team. The Warriors have won both their opening two matches which were both at home, but they were not exactly without weakness in those two games. The Tridents could expose one or two deficiencies as they have a quality batting line-up which bats deep, while their bowlers will cause problems for the Warriors too. A close one to call especially without seeing the Tridents in action, but the Warriors may meet their match here.
