All-time meetings: Sydney Sixers W8, Brisbane Heat W1
Last meeting: Sydney Sixers beat Brisbane Heat by 5 wickets

Coach: Greg Shipperd

Captain: Moises Henriques

  • The Sixers are level on points with the cluster of teams on eight points but they come into his match sat in sixth place and know that a win here is vital against the Heat who are below them and especially after three defeats in their last four matches.

  • They have named the same 13-man squad that faced the Melbourne Renegades last time out and lost, but they will take some heart from the fact that they beat the Heat earlier in the tournament by five wickets.

  • While they were winning a number of tight matches earlier in the tournament, they have been losing them recently but they will hope that their bowlers can step up and the top and middle order can raise their game once again and a couple of below par performances.

Coach: Daniel Vettori

Captain: Chris Lynn

  • Brisbane Heat have won three of their last four completed matches but they arguably escaped a defeat last time out as their match with Sydney Thunder was abandoned due to floodlight failure when they were 10/2 from 3 overs chasing a mammoth target of 186/4.

  • Matthew Kuhnemann has been called into the squad at the expense of pace bowler Mark Steketee who is unavailable but the likelihood is that the spinner will not be called into the starting eleven for this crunch match.

  • The top order failed for the first time in several matches against the Thunder as both McCullum and Lynn were both out early, and that highlighted the need for one, if not both of the Bash Brothers, to be firing on all cylinders for the Heat to have a chance of winning.

This is a pretty key game for both of these sides as they sit outside the top four, and neither come into the match in particularly good form. The Sixers will take great heart from the fact that they beat the Heat earlier in the tournament, but the Heat have improved significantly since those early matches. Neither the Sixers’ bowling unit nor batsmen are in particularly good form at the moment, and the Heat can continue their good run and grab just their second win in ten matches against the Sydney outfit.
