All-time meetings: Melbourne Stars W4, Adelaide Strikers W4
Last meeting: Adelaide Strikers beat Melbourne Stars by 41 runs
THE TEAM NEWS
Coach: Stephen Fleming
Captain: Glenn Maxwell
Melbourne Stars kept their hopes of a top four place alive on Saturday as they overpowered their city rivals Renegades by six wickets after restricting them to a below-par total of 121 due to some impressive bowling by Plunkett and Stoinis.
After losing the previous three matches, they regained their internationals and the inclusion of Maxwell, Handscombe, Zampa and particularly the in-form Stoinis made a notable difference as they looked a different side and they produced an impressive display that they will look to build on here.
For this match in Moe at the Ted Summerton Reserve, the Stars are able to name an unchanged squad from that match at the weekend and the eleven will likely be repeated with all their key players available once again.
Coach: Jason Gillespie
Captain: Colin Ingram
The Strikers sit just outside the top four places after losing their last two matches and the defeat to the Hurricanes on Monday was particularly disappointing as they lost by ten wickets to the BBL08 leaders as they showed little ability in defending 154/5.
They welcome back pace bowler Wes Agar to the squad at the expense of spinner Michael Cormack and they may consider a change to the bowling department after they failed to take a single wicket against the Hurricanes.
They were forced into using Rashid Khan in the powerplay on Monday which did not work out particularly well but ultimately their batsmen will have to raise their game and give their bowlers more to work with after two below-par performances.
Contrasting form for these two teams coming into this game with the Stars looking superb in their weekend win over the Renegades while the Strikers have been disappointing in back-to-back defeats. With all their key internationals available, the Stars have competed well this season so they will be confident coming into this game. The Strikers on the other hand come off a demoralising ten-wicket loss, and this is another tough assignment for them where they could struggle once again.
