2017 Premier League Darts - Play-Offs Preview

  • There were 437 180's in the league phase, but the most in any single year was in 2014, when 456 maximums were thrown.
  • Dave Chisnall hit 71 180's, which is the most achieved by any one player in a Premier League campaign (league phase only).
  • Michael van Gerwen averaged over 100 in every single league game, and finished with a tournament average of 104.92.
  • Michael van Gerwen has finished top of the table in all five years he has competed in the Premier League.
  • Peter Wright averaged 119.50 in week five against Adrian Lewis - the second highest televised average ever.
  • Both Jelle Klaasen and Kim Huybrechts, on their second appearance in the Premier League, were eliminated after week nine. In their first appearance in the Premier League, both players finished in last place (Klaasen - 2009, Huybrechts - 2010).
  • Despite playing nine more games than Kim Huybrechts, James Wade only achieved one more maximum than the Belgian.
  • This will be Phil Taylor's 12th appearance in the play-offs, whilst Gary Anderson and Michael van Gerwen will be making their fifth appearance and Peter Wright his first.

Verdict & Betting Tips
Van Gerwen has not quite been at the top of his game recently but that has still been enough to finish top of the league phase. Anderson tends to time his form well though and is likely to offer a sterner challenge to the Dutchman than he did in Aberdeen last week. This could really go either way so consider Betway's offer of 9/2 for either player to win 10-9.

Prediction - Van Gerwen win

Verdict & Betting Tips
In his final year, Taylor has shown that he is still one of the top players on the circuit, and has claimed wins over Van Gerwen, Anderson and Wright in the league phase. However, Wright is enjoying a breakthrough year in terms of winning trophies and the confidence is surging through him. At 8/13, Wright looks a good bet to come out of the blocks firing and hit the first 180.

Prediction - Wright win
