SYDNEY SIXERS

Coach: Greg Shipperd

Captain: Moises Henriques

  • The Sixers will be seeking revenge against the Scorchers after the Perth outfit beat them in last year’s final, and they will also be looking to bounce back after losing the Sydney derby in Round 1.
  • The Sixers will have the same set of players at their disposal for this game but they will be hoping for a much-improved bowling display by some of their experienced campaigners like Doug Bollinger and Sean Abbott.
  • Youngster Daniel Sams came in to make his debut against the Thunder and registered the best ever figures for a debutant taking 4/14 and they will look to him and the spinners to slow this aggressive Scorchers batting line-up.

PERTH SCORCHERS

  • The most successful team in Big Bash history kick off the new campaign against the team they beat in last year’s final with a selection headache as they look to win their fourth trophy in just the seventh edition of the tournament.
  • Shaun Marsh, Cameron Bancroft and Mitch Marsh are all out of action for the start of BBL07 due to national team commitments with Australia so that leaves the defending champions severely weakened for this opening match.
  • To compound matters, star batsman Michael Klinger is unavailable after his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and he will take a break from the game for the foreseeable future.

Coach: Justin Langer

Captain: Adam Voges

PREDICTION
The Scorchers have absolutely dominated the Sixers in Big Bash history including a one-sided beating in the final last year. They are however beset by absentees and their batting especially is severely weakened. Their bowling attack is arguably the best in the tournament with Mitchell Johnson spearheading their attack, but their batting is significantly under strength. Expect a low scoring affair with neither batting line-up convincing but the Sixers may just cause an early upset here.
