Coach: Greg Shipperd

Captain: Moises Henriques

  • Despite being unable to progress to the final four in BBL07, the Sixers are playing with great pride and have won their last three matches as the influx of new and returning players has given them a new lease of life.
  • They have kept Melbourne Stars to 128/7 and bowled the Brisbane Heat out for 73 in their last two matches thanks to some excellent bowling by the likes of Nathan Lyon and Sean Abbott, while their batting looks much more formidable right now too.
  • An unchanged 13-man squad has been named for this game and they will surely keep faith with the same eleven players that thoroughly outplayed Brisbane Heat last Thursday and will be looking for a repeat of their win over the Stars in the reverse match last Tuesday.

Coach: Stephen Fleming

Captain: John Hastings

  • The Stars sit firmly rooted to the bottom of the BBL07 ladder and everybody around the club is seemingly just waiting for this miserable season to finish after just one victory so far and little sign that they are finding any form even though the pressure is now off.
  • They make two changes to their 13-man squad as Michael Beer and Rob Quiney come in at the expense of Ben Hilfenhaus and Daniel Fallins but they are sticking with a core set of players especially in their bowling attack that they view as future prospects.
  • This match represents Kevin Pietersen’s penultimate match for the Stars and his last game at the SCG so he will surely be fired up to put on a show even if the motivation of some of his team-mates may be questionable at the moment.

The Sixers are understandably favourites for this match against a woeful Stars side who have shown very little in BBL07 and have only won once in their last 13 Big Bash matches regardless of some of the names in the squad. Neither side has anything to play for, but the Sixers are enjoying their cricket right now which is a visible contrast to the Stars. At home, they will be desperate to get a win for their fans, and the Stars will struggle to match them. The Sixers are better in every department and should win this one.
