Coach: David Saker

Captain: Aaron Finch

  • The Renegades chased down the Hurricanes’ total of 164 in Hobart in Round 1 with relative ease but they may face a tougher test here against the talented Brisbane Heat batting line-up and the firepower of Brendan McCullum and co.
  • They have made a couple of changes to their 13-man squad but the likelihood is that the 11 that were named against Hobart and played so impressively will start again as they look to stake more early claims that they are among the favourites in BBL07.
  • Recent history has seen them dominate the Heat and if the opening matches are anything to go by, the Renegades will be confident of another win and will look to all-time T20 wicket-taker Dwayne Bravo for yet more inspired bowling after his 5/28 in the opener.

Coach: Daniel Vettori

Captain: Brendon McCullum

  • Brisbane Heat pulled off an opening win against the Melbourne Stars and that was largely thanks to their batsmen racking up a tournament high 206/7 batting first in their 20 overs and they will be looking for more of the same against another Melbourne team.
  • Joe Burns shone with the bat in that game hitting 50 from 28 balls but he has a groin problem and has not travelled to Melbourne for this game so that is a significant loss to their batting.
  • Star hitter Chris Lynn has been named in the 13-man squad once again as he was in the opening game but he is not expected to be risked just yet so they remain without one of the best batsmen in BBL history.

A fascinating clash between two of the more impressive teams in Round 1, but it is the Renegades who look the stronger outfit all round coming into this game. The Heat have more injuries to contend with and their batting will be weaker than it was in the opening game while the Renegades look formidable in all areas of the team. Combined with a strong recent record against the Heat, the Renegades should make it two wins from two matches here.
