Coach: Gary Kirsten

Captain: George Bailey

  • The Hurricanes will play just their second game in BBL07 against the Thunder and this will be the first ever Big Bash League double-header at the University of Tasmania Stadium in Launceston as the women play first followed by their male counterparts.
  • They make three changes to the 13-man squad that lost to the Melbourne Renegades in their opening game as Caleb Jewell, Tom Rogers and Simon Milenko come in for Aaron Summers, Nathan Reardon and Hamish Kingston.
  • Aaron Summers drops out of the eleven and the most likely player to replace him is Canberra batsman Tom Rogers who could come in to make his debut and strengthen a talented batting line-up.

Coach: Paddy Upton

Captain: Shane Watson

  • Sydney Thunder have lost two of their opening three matches in BBL07 but after opening the competition with a win over their city rivals Sixers, they have lost their last two games and they will want to bounce back here.
  • Batting has been their major weakness so far with international stars Jos Buttler and Sam Billings yet to click into gear and they have been relying far too heavily on captain Shane Watson who has been fundamental for them as top run-scorer in the tournament so far with 35% of his team’s runs.
  • Ben Rohrer was struck in the collarbone while batting that forced him out of fielding in the last game against Brisbane Heat and his participation may be in some doubt so Aiden Blizzard could potentially be handed a recall for him.

The Hurricanes will finally play their second game of BBL07 and they face a Sydney Thunder side who are struggling badly for runs in their opening three matches. The Hurricanes lost their opening game against the in-form Renegades but there were plenty of positives for them to take and they will be confident of getting a win against an average Thunder team in front of their home fans.
