HEAD-TO-HEAD Last five meetings: Hobart Hurricanes W3, Brisbane Heat W2 All-time meetings: Hobart Hurricanes W7, Brisbane Heat W4
Coach: Gary Kirsten
Captain: George Bailey
The Hurricanes are one of the form teams in BBL07 right now having won their last four matches after losing their first two in a slow start to the tournament, but a fifth consecutive win here would be a club record.
They have named the same squad which played against the Heat in their last match on Wednesday as they narrowly beat them by three runs and they will likely use the same eleven players for this game also.
They are one of the teams least affected by international call-ups right now as the likes of D’Arcy Short has not been called by Australia despite being the revelation of BBL07 with the bat and his 406 runs in the opening 6 matches.
Coach: Daniel Vettori
Captain: Brendon McCullum
The Heat know just how vital this game is as the Hurricanes and themselves are two of three sides sat between third and fifth in the ladder all on eight points as the race for the top four places intensifies massively.
They remain without Chris Lynn who is injured but Heazlett will open the batting with McCullum once again and he played reasonably well against the Hurricanes last week hitting 45 in 33 balls in an opening partnership of 64 and they will need other batsmen to step up in Lynn’s absence and Marnus Labuschagne is one who is under pressure to score runs.
Josh Lalor comes back into the 13-man squad after a fractured wrist and he replaces Jack Prestwidge but he may not come into the starting line-up as they could go unchanged for this match.
PREDICTION The last match between these two teams last Wednesday was incredibly close with the Hurricanes winning by just three runs and this will be another close one. The Hurricanes have won their last four matches in a row and they have the most in-form batsman in the competition in D’Arcy Short who hit 122 not out against the Heat last week. If he does not fire to the same degree as he has done of late, then the Heat have to be favoured, but the Hurricanes do just look to have the greater quality bowling attack which may make the difference once again.
