Coach: Gary Kirsten

Captain: George Bailey

  • The Hurricanes grabbed their first victory of BBL07 last time out against Sydney Thunder and they will look to build on that albeit against a difficult and talented opponent in the unbeaten Adelaide Strikers.
  • The Hurricanes have named an unchanged side for this game so they have no injury concerns and they will likely name the same eleven as last time, though they are hoping English fast bowler Tymal Mills can find some form after a disappointing start to BBL07 and being hit for 46 off 4 overs last time out against Sydney Thunder.
  • The last time these two teams played it was the Hurricanes who emerged victorious in BBL06 with Dan Christian being the star as the veteran took 5-14 from four overs - which is the second best tally ever by a bowler - so they will hope he can rekindle some of that form here.

Coach: Jason Gillespie

Captain: Travis Head

  • The Strikers sit below the Perth Scorchers but remain one of just two teams to be unbeaten in BBL07 so far and they will look to continue their excellent start to the season with a victory in Hobart.
  • Strikers’ captain Travis Head has been rewarded for his good form by being called up to the Australian ODI squad so he may be ruled out of action for his team soon but he is available to play here and will be key to his team once again.
  • They have named an unchanged 13-man squad for this game and it will likely be the same eleven as they come off one of the most comprehensive victories in the tournament so far as they dominated Brisbane Heat on New Years’ Eve and bowled them out for 91 runs, winning by 56.

An exciting clash in store in Hobart as these two teams are relatively well matched and there is little to separate them on paper. The Strikers have certainly made the better start to BBL07 and have form on their side, but the Hurricanes were impressive in beating Sydney Thunder last time out and showed that they were hitting their stride with the bat. They still have to improve with the ball however, but they will take some beating if they do. The Strikers have been one of the best sides so far but it seems unlikely they can maintain that level of performance. The value may well be on the Hurricanes here.
