What was the outcome in the last meeting? New Orleans Saints 35-34 Los Angeles Chargers

  • Los Angeles Chargers looked set to get back to winning ways after successive losses but that was not to be the case as they blew a big lead in their game with Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week and now sit at 1-3.
  • The Chargers were well on top as they led 24-7 beyond the two-minute warning in the first half but they allowed the Bucs to hit back just before half-time and that proved to be the catalyst for the home team to mount a comeback.
  • Eventually succumbing to a 31-38 loss, the Chargers now have a very different outlook on the start to their season and they will see this as a must-win, although key DE Joey Bosa is questionable with multiple ailments.

  • New Orleans Saints avoided a third straight loss as they improved to 2-2 with a solid win over Detroit Lions, although they were made to work hard for that win after making a slow start to the contest.
  • The Saints conceded the first two TDs of the match as they trailed 0-14 in the first five minutes of the match but New Orleans responded strongly to lead 28-14 at the half and they were able to see the game out comfortably despite some garbage time points from the Lions.
  • Star WR Michael Thomas was slated to make his return from an ankle injury in this clash but he has been ruled out by New Orleans after he was involved in an altercation with a teammate during practice.

This is an intriguing Monday Night Football matchup as Los Angeles Chargers travel to New Orleans to face the Saints. The road team looked like they were in for a promising season at the start of the campaign but they now sit at 1-3 after three straight losses with injuries causing them real issues. RB Austin Ekeler is their latest absentee after suffering a hamstring injury last week and that does not bode well for them here with the backups needing to produce if they are to go toe-to-toe against the Saints’ high-powered offense. The home team are 2-2 and are yet to fire on all cylinders, but if they can fix their issues in the secondary, they should be able to win this one by at least seven points.
