THE TEAM NEWS

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

  • Tampa Bay were not good enough to defeat New Orleans last week and the Buccaneers now find themselves at 3-7 heading into this game with an improving Atlanta outfit that have looked strong on defense in their last two matches.
  • Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston appeared to be in pain at the end of his team's loss last week but he is expected to suit up for this contest and despite appearing on the injury report, he was able to log a full practice at Wednesday’s first session of the week.
  • The same cannot be said of linebackers Anthony Nelson and Jason Pierre-Paul and defensive back M.J. Stewart who all had to sit out due to injury issues with the Buccaneers hoping they can recover by Sunday or they will be light on defense.

ATLANTA FALCONS

  • Atlanta produced another dominant display as they made it back-to-back wins by overcoming Carolina with their defense again on top and they will fancy their chances of making it three in a row against a turnover-prone Tampa Bay.
  • The Falcons were without some offensive weapons last week but will be hoping that tight end Austin Hooper can return in this one with head coach Dan Quinn suggesting he could return to practice towards the back end of the week.
  • Running back Devonta Freeman could also suit up sooner than expected following his foot injury while quarterback Matt Ryan and wide receiver Julio Jones are also expected to be fit despite appearing on the injury report.

THE PREDICTION

Atlanta have shown up on defense in their last two matches and their patched-up offense were able to back that up with a solid display last week. They now host a Tampa Bay team who will not relish this trip to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium as they attempt to make it three wins in a row. Turnovers have been an issue for the Buccaneers all season and with the Falcons defense likely to place plenty of pressure on quarterback Jameis Winston, the Falcons can force errors and should be able to capitalise on those to claim a third consecutive victory.
