THE TEAM NEWS

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

  • San Francisco took full advantage of four turnovers by Tampa Bay as they ran out comfortable winners in their Week 1 clash and will look to build on that as they face a tricky road trip to Cincinnati.
  • 49ers RB Tevin Coleman will be missing with the high-ankle sprain that forced him off the field in the contest against Tampa which will see Matt Breida and Raheem Mostert take on the majority of snaps.
  • There is also some doubt over the second overall draft pick Nick Bosa after the DL failed to appear in Wednesday’s practice session with an ankle injury but it is an ongoing issue and he should be able to manage it to suit-up on Sunday.

CINCINNATI BENGALS

  • Cincinnati produced a solid display on the road at Seattle but agonisingly fell a point short in their quest for victory and will now face a buoyant San Francisco side in their first home game of the season.
  • Bengals QB Andy Dalton rolled back the years with a great performance in which he threw for 418 yards and two TDs in last week's loss but despite the career-high yardage, it was still not enough for the victory.
  • RB Joe Mixon is deemed day-to-day with an ankle injury and whilst it is likely that he will figure in this game, it is by no means a certainty that he suits-up with Giovani Bernard set to take on more carries regardless of his status.

THE PREDICTION

This should be an intriguing clash between the Bengals and 49ers. Both sides put in good efforts last week but San Francisco were able to come out on top of their opponents whilst Cincinnati fell just short. With both looking like they can rack up points, it could turn into a shootout although it remains to be seen how good the 49ers offense is after scoring just one TD on offense last week. They should make this a good contest but the Bengals should have enough on home turf.
