  • New York Jets won the battle of the city as they came out on top against the Giants for just their second win of the season and now face another struggling team in Washington as they bid to make it back-to-back victories.
  • The Jets suffered two big blows last week with tight end Chris Herndon and offensive lineman Brian Winters ruled out for the season after the pair were placed on injured reserve with rib and shoulder injuries respectively.
  • Running back Le’Veon Bell was a non-participant at Wednesday’s practice with various ailments but having logged a limited practice on Thursday, he should be good to suit up for Sunday’s contest.

  • Washington fell to 1-8 as they failed to score a touchdown for the third game in a row in their game against Buffalo before their bye week with huge improvements needed for the remainder of the season.
  • Rookie QB Dwayne Haskins has been named as the starter for the rest of the year by the Redskins in a bid to turn their fortunes around but he will have a big task on his hands after a lacklustre effort on offense so far this season.
  • The bye week did not offer the Redskins much respite in terms of injuries with five players unable to practice on Thursday including running back pair Chris Thompson and Adrian Peterson while fellow running back Wendell Smallwood did not have a status listed.

These two teams have just three wins between them all year but will both fancy their chances of coming out on top here. Washington are going to roll with rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins as they bid to end their run of three games without a touchdown but could be very light in the backfield with three running backs under a cloud leading into this game and after the Jets won last week, the road team should be able to back that up here.
