What was the outcome in the last meeting? New York Jets 3-38 New England Patriots

  • New York were unable to overcome the absence of some key personnel as they suffered defeat to Cleveland on MNF last week and things did not get better for them on the injury front in that game.
  • The Jets have issues under center after back-up QB Trevor Siemian failed to finish the game following a nasty looking ankle injury which has since been diagnosed as torn ligaments that will end his season.
  • Third in line Luke Falk will be the starting QB until Sam Darnold returns with the Jets also moving to bring in some extra depth by signing David Fales who has been a free agent since his release by Detroit in August.

  • New England were far too good as they blew Miami away last week with the reigning champions managing a big shutout win to go 2-0 and they will look to continue their good form at the start of the campaign as they host New York Jets.
  • The Patriots had their worst fears confirmed regarding the seriousness of the injury suffered by Isaiah Wynn in the victory over the Dolphins last week with the OT placed on IR which will see him miss a minimum of eight weeks.
  • It is a problem position for the Pats with Marcus Cannon also suffering with a shoulder injury that forced him to miss last week’s game so they have moved to sign Caleb Benenoch who may be thrown in at the deep end in this game.

A patched-up New York Jets will have to regroup quickly as they face the daunting task of travelling to Foxborough to face New England. The Patriots enjoyed a blowout win over Miami last week and could rack up another big score here. If that is to be the case, Tom Brady will have to line up under center with the 42-year-old QB suffering from a calf injury that limited him in practice at the start of the week but he should be good to go to lead his side to 3-0.
