What was the outcome in the last meeting? New England Patriots 43-0 Miami Dolphins

  • Miami threw away a big lead late in the game against Cincinnati but they were able to bounce back to claim the win in overtime meaning they have won four times since Week 9 when they went into their game with New York Jets with an 0-7 record.
  • Dolphins cornerback Jomal Wiltz suffered a shoulder injury in last week's contest and he is questionable ahead of this final game of the year having failed to log a practice through Thursday.
  • The Dolphins have several other injury concerns ahead of their season finale but Wiltz is the only player that has been unable to practice with everyone else on the injury report managing a limited practice at the very least.

  • New England were given a fright by Buffalo but came out on top of their AFC East battle to claim an 11th consecutive divisional title and they are favourites to land a bye heading into the play-offs with a victory in Week 17 securing home-field advantage.
  • The Patriots could opt to hold out some of their starters with some carrying knocks into this final game of the regular season but they will otherwise name all of their starters as they attempt to secure a top-two seed.
  • Linebacker Shilique Calhoun is the only Patriot who has sat out practice this week and while several others have been limited, including wide receiver Julian Edelman, the majority are expected to suit up unless they suffer further setbacks.

New England edged their divisional matchup with Buffalo to seal yet another AFC East title. They will head into the play-offs with some work to do on offense if they are to defend their Super Bowl crown and against a poor Miami defense, this is a chance for them to try and build some consistency with the ball. The Dolphins have nothing to lose in this contest and will give the ball plenty of air but they look set to fall short which will see the Patriots claim a bye.
