What was the outcome in the last meeting? Los Angeles Chargers 17-20 Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Los Angeles Chargers found yet another way to lose a game as they went down to Denver in the final seconds of their AFC West clash and it was another disappointing defeat in what has been a poor season.
  • There has been talk that Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers could be benched if his poor play continues and the veteran will be worried after some sub-standard performances of late.
  • The Chargers boast a relatively healthy roster and not one of their players missed Wednesday’s first practice of the week although wide receiver Mike Williams was limited as he nurses the knee injury that he has carried for most of the season.

  • Jacksonville threw in another awful display as they lost a fourth consecutive game when they were defeated by Tampa Bay last week with the Jaguars finding themselves down by 25 points at one point in the first half.
  • The Jags have responded to that poor display and made a change at quarterback after Nick Foles was benched at half-time last week with Gardner Minshew to assume the starting role, with his introduction last week leading to an improved effort in the second half.
  • Several key players were absent from Wednesday’s practice with defensive lineman Calais Campbell still struggling with a back complaint while wide receiver Dede Westbrook took a personal day so he at least should be fine for this contest.

Jacksonville will be hoping the return of Gardner Minshew at quarterback can lead to a change in fortunes as they host Los Angeles Chargers. Both teams look set to miss out on the play-offs but the Chargers continue to find different ways to throw matches away in what has been the story of their season and the Jaguars should be able to capitalise on the Chargers’ frailties on both sides of the ball.
