What was the outcome in the last meeting? Atlanta Falcons 23-17 Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Jacksonville ended their five-match losing streak as they produced a solid come-from-behind victory to spoil the Oakland party as they defeated the Raiders in their last game to be held in the city.
  • The Jaguars were trailing by 13 points at the interval after managing just a single field goal in the first half but scored 17 unanswered points which included the game winning touchdown with just 34 seconds left on the clock.
  • Jacksonville lost defensive end Josh Allen to a shoulder injury in the win over Oakland and he will be assessed before this contest but in better news for the Jaguars, wide receiver D.J. Chark could yet play again this season after receiving a positive diagnosis on an ankle injury.

  • Atlanta have endured a difficult season but added another big scalp to their record as they were able to come out on top of a tense game against San Francisco as the Falcons scored on their final drive of the game to beat the 49ers.
  • With time running out, wideout Julio Jones came up with a clutch catch to edge his team into the lead and the Falcons were able to add a further score when the 49ers botched their attempt to keep the ball alive from the resulting kick-off.
  • The Falcons did lose pass rusher Takk McKinley after he went down with a shoulder injury and after struggling for most of the season with that issue, it is now bad enough to rule him out of the final two games of the season.

Neither of these teams have achieved what they will have set out to accomplish this season but both picked up a win to move to 5-9 last week. The pair will hope to build on their respective performances last week but it was the Falcons who were most impressive. They defeated San Francisco who had only lost two games all season before last week and back on home turf, the Falcons should be able to back that up with another victory.
