THE TEAM NEWS

DETROIT LIONS

  • Detroit blew a 10-point lead against Chicago as they suffered a fifth successive defeat which saw the Lions drop to 3-8-1 for the season with their promising start to the year looking like a distant memory.
  • The Lions are now on their third-string quarterback after Jeff Driskel picked up a hamstring injury before last week's game with David Blough standing in as the former was placed on injured reserve.
  • Franchise quarterback Matthew Stafford continues to deal with fractures in his back and will be sidelined once again in Week 14 but the Lions are refusing to rule out a return before the end of the season.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS

  • Minnesota lost an important matchup against Seattle on Monday Night Football with the Vikings falling to 8-4 after failing to hold on to a 10-point advantage and they are now under pressure to get back to winning ways in this divisional clash.
  • The Vikings will be sweating on the fitness of running back Dalvin Cook who suffered an injured clavicle during his side's loss last week and that limited him at Wednesday’s practice but he is expected to suit up.
  • Wide receiver Adam Thielen was expected to make his return from a hamstring injury in last week’s contest but was surprisingly ruled out and it is unclear whether he has suffered a setback.

THE PREDICTION

Minnesota will be eager to bounce straight back to keep the pressure on Green Bay at the top of the NFC North standings after falling a game behind last week. The Vikings have missed the presence of wide receiver Adam Thielen over the last three matches and although his availability remains up in the air for this contest, the Vikings should still have too much for their divisional rivals.
