What was the outcome in the last meeting? Indianapolis Colts 26-29 Carolina Panthers

  • Carolina’s miserable run of form continued as they were beaten by Seattle and having lost six games in a row, the Panthers are now in danger of finishing bottom of the NFC South despite being in contention before their current losing streak.
  • The Panthers were outplayed by the play-off bound Seahawks and despite keeping the scoreline close, that was mainly down to scoring a couple of garbage time touchdowns with the final score flattering Carolina.
  • With their season over and another disappointing performance by quarterback Kyle Allen, the Panthers are expected to roll with rookie Will Grier in Week 16 in an attempt to halt their losing streak.

  • Indianapolis came up against an almost flawless performance by New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees as the Colts lost for the fourth game in succession with that defeat eliminating them from play-off contention.
  • The Colts have now won just one of their last seven matches in what has been a disappointing second half of the season having made such a strong start but their struggles against the Saints highlighted how far away they are from one of the elite teams in the league.
  • Wide receiver T.Y. Hilton made a welcome return in Week 15 for the Colts after a troubling time with injury of late but he will hope to have more of an impact this week after he was held to just 25 yards on four receptions.

Both of these teams have ended up missing out on the play-offs with Indianapolis officially having their fate confirmed with their Monday Night Football loss to New Orleans. The pair enter this with losing streaks they will be desperate to end with the Panthers losing their last six while the Colts have lost four in a row. Neither side make a compelling case for the victory but both are likely to give the ball plenty of air in a high-scoring contest that the Colts should be able to edge on home turf.
