THE TEAM NEWS

ATLANTA FALCONS

  • The start of Atlanta's season went from bad to worse as they slipped to 1-3 with a home defeat against Tennessee last week and will need their defense to perform if they are to get back to winning ways against Houston.
  • The Falcons were hit by two further injuries in their loss to the Titans with G Jamon Brown and C Alex Mack both in doubt for this week with the former needing to overcome the the concussion protocol.
  • Mack suffered an elbow injury and although he was kept out of Wednesday’s practice, he returned in a limited capacity on Thursday which should give him hope of suiting-up but the Falcons could be without CB Blidi Wreh-Wilson because of a groin injury.

HOUSTON TEXANS

  • Houston dropped to 2-2 as their offensive line struggles continued in a bad way in their home loss against Carolina last week and that issue does not seem to be going away which could have huge implications on their season.
  • The Texans have boosted their depth in the defensive ranks with the addition of veteran S Mike Adams who had been a free agent with TE Jerell Adams cut from the roster to make space for the 38-year-old.
  • The three main receiving targets for the Texans in DeAndre Hopkins, Will Fuller and Kenny Stills were all limited during the first practice of the week but it was a different story on Thursday with just the latter failing to log a full practice due to hamstring and ankle issues.

THE PREDICTION

Houston cannot keep allowing QB Deshaun Watson to take hits or their chances of making the post-season will evaporate. Watson was sacked six times against Carolina but they will look to start making that right against a struggling Falcons outfit with the Texans able to bounce back in this one. The Falcons have looked poor on both sides of the ball so far this season but they could have some success if they can get to Watson although the Texans have to start protecting him better at some point and that can start in this game.
