  • Gold Coast Suns were hoping for a strong start to 2020 in the hope of banishing their terrible showing in the previous year but it was not to be as they were beaten by Port Adelaide in a one-sided contest.
  • The Suns’ loss was their 19th in a row and it is now over a year since they won a game with plenty of work to do if they are to end their miserable losing streak with a tough contest against West Coast Eagles lying in wait.
  • After an underwhelming showing, the Suns have made five changes to the side that were beaten in that opening game with Alex Sexton, Charlie Ballard, Jarrod Harbrow, Pearce Hanley and Will Powell all brought into the side.

  • West Coast Eagles suffered a disappointing end to their 2019 campaign as their tilt at the Grand Final was ended with a loss to Geelong in the finals but they wasted no time in putting that defeat behind them in 2020.
  • The Eagles were too good for Melbourne in their opening game and will look to build on that in their second contest and having played well on the road last season, confidence will be high against the struggling Gold Coast Suns.
  • The Eagles did not suffer any injury strife during the enforced break in play and have named a very similar side to the one that beat the Demons with Oscar Allen the only addition to the line-up in place of Tom Hickey.

Gold Coast Suns have now gone over a year without winning a game in the AFL and face another tough task as they host West Coast Eagles. The Suns are on a 19-match losing streak and things could be about to get worse for them with the Eagles arriving full of confidence. The away side have very few injury issues and should have far too much for the hosts with the Eagles likely to win by at least 30 points.
