  • The end of the season cannot come soon enough for Melbourne Demons as they suffered a fifth consecutive defeat to Collingwood Magpies and despite only losing by 17 points, the scoreline flattered them due to some consolation points late on.
  • The Demons look set to finish just one place off bottom unless something dramatic happens in their final two matches and they will field a much-changed line-up this week with no less than five alterations from the team that featured last week.
  • Harrison Petty, Oscar McDonald and Steven May are all out injured whilst Oskar Baker and Jayden Hunt are omitted with Matty Hore, Billy Stretch, Charlie Spargo and Alex Neal-Bullen coming into the side whilst there is an AFL debut for Kade Chandler.

  • Sydney Swans endured another tough day at the office as they were hammered by Port Adelaide Power last week in what was their sixth successive defeat as their season continues to subside.
  • The Swans capitulated after a close first quarter as they ended up losing by 47 points which was their heaviest defeat of the season but despite that loss, they have refrained from making wholesale changes this week.
  • Sydney had been expected to make numerous changes after such a poor performance against Port Adelaide but instead they make just one adjustment and it is a forced one with Zak Jones dropping out through injury with Kieren Jack replacing him.

Both of these teams are struggling to end their winless runs but one will get the chance to end the season on a high when they meet here. Melbourne Demons have lost their last five whilst it is six for Sydney Swans as both continue to stagger towards the end of the season. There is not much to separate the two teams but the Swans will have a lot to do to bounce back from last week’s hammering and with home advantage, Melbourne could claim the win.
