THE TEAM NEWS

CARLTON

  • Carlton Blues went down to a second successive loss with Richmond Tigers getting the better of them in their last game but they will want to turn things around to end their home campaign on a high.
  • The Blues have been disappointing for most of the season and last week’s poor showing did little to help their hopes of attempting to end the season on a high although their home finale may see a better effort.
  • They have made two changes from last week’s loss with Liam Jones ruled out for the remainder of the season with a throat injury whilst Darcy Lang is dropped which opens the door for the in-form VFL pair of Matthew Kennedy and Paddy Dow to get their AFL shot.

ST. KILDA

  • St. Kilda Saints made it three wins from their last four with a win over Fremantle Dockers last week but their chances of making the finals are still extremely remote despite only sitting four points outside of the top 8 with two rounds remaining.
  • The Saints are loitering down in 13th place and it is almost impossible for them to finish above all of the other teams chasing a play-off spot even if they are able to win their final two games of the season.
  • After edging out the Dockers with two late scores last week, the Saints have seen little reason to alter their side and have made just the single enforced alteration with Nick Coffield out through injury and he is replaced by Nathan Brown.

THE PREDICTION

Carlton Blues will want to send their fans home happy in their final home game of what has been a disappointing year. They may struggle to achieve that though as they host a St. Kilda side who will want to take their unlikely challenge for a spot in the finals to the final weekend. They have won their last two and the character they showed in their late victory last week should stand them in good stead to extend their winning run to three games.
