THE TEAM NEWS

WAKEFIELD TRINITY

Head Coach: Chris Chester

Squad: Arona, Arundel, Ashurst, Batchelor, Brough, Crowther, England, Fifita, Hampshire, Hirst, Horo, Jones-Bishop, Jowitt, King, Kirmond, Kopczak, Lyne, Miller, Pauli, Wood

Unavailable: Tyler Randell, Craig Huby, James Batchelor, Tom Johnstone

  • Wakefield left it late but secured a vital two points as Danny Brough's drop goal sealed the win against his former club Huddersfield and kept Trinity inside the top 5 at this early stage of the season.

  • Trinity are struggling with injuries in the outside backs and despite scouring the transfer market, they have so far failed to make a breakthrough and will have to settle for their current squad.

  • Chris Chester has named an unchanged 19-man squad with the Wakefield head coach expected to name the same team that took to the field against Huddersfield, unless of course there are any late injury problems.

WIGAN WARRIORS

Head Coach: Adrian Lam

Squad: Bullock, Burgess, Byrne, Davies, Escaré, Hardaker, Gildart, Isa, Leuluai, Navarrete, Paisley, Partington, Powell, Sarginson, Ja. Shorrocks, Jo. Shorrocks, Smithies, Tautai, Williams

Unavailable: Liam Farrell, Liam Marshall, Tony Clubb, Gabe Hamlin, Joe Greenwood, Sean O’Loughlin, Dom Manfredi, Jarrod Sammut, Ben Flower

  • Wigan threw away a 16-point lead, they allowing Castleford to come back and condemn them to defeat as they failed to win consecutive games and now their injury list has grown.

  • The Warriors were without numerous forwards for the clash with Castleford and despite skipper Sean O’Loughlin looking like he would return, he has once again been ruled out of this game.

  • Ben Flower, Jarrod Sammut and Joe Greenwood are also out whilst Dom Manfredi is out for the season after suffering an ACL injury. However, in slightly better news, Sam Powell and Morgan Escaré are both fit enough to return to the squad.

THE PREDICTION

Wakefield weren't at their best but managed to overcome Huddersfield last week and will now look to make it back-to-back home wins as they host Wigan. The Warriors will be licking their wounds after a shocking second-half last week and Wakefield can get the better of them. The Warriors are without a plethora of players and missing as they are some size up front, Wakefield’s big men through the middle can really take advantage with this set to be a long night for Wigan.
