THE TEAM NEWS

HULL KR

Head Coach: Tony Smith

Squad: Addy, Atkin, Crooks, Dagger, Drinkwater, Hall, Harrison, Hauraki, Keinhorst, Lannon, Lawler, Linnett, Lunt, Maria, Masoe, McGuire, Mulhern, Shaw, Tomkins

Unavailable: Adam Quinlan, James Greenwood, Tommy Lee, Mitch Garbutt

  • Hull KR come into this contest with a new head coach after Tim Sheens was relieved of his duties earlier in the week and was replaced by Tony Smith following their Cup exit to Warrington.

  • Rovers will have skipper Joel Tomkins back from a ban but must do without Mitch Garbutt for one-match after he was hit with a suspension following a Grade B charge of dangerous contact against the Wolves.

  • That is new head coach Smith’s one and only change to his first 19-man squad in charge of the Robins as he looks for a winning start to his reign with him hoping to pull his side out of relegation danger.

WIGAN WARRIORS

Head Coach: Adrian Lam

Squad: Bullock, Burgess, Clubb, Farrell, Flower, Gildart, Hankinson, Hardaker, Isa, Leuluai, Marshall, O’Loughlin, Partington, Sarginson, Ja. Shorrocks, Smithies, Tautai, Williams

Unavailable: Gabe Hamlin, Dom Manfredi, Tom Davies, Morgan Escaré, Joe Greenwood

  • Wigan will come into this fixture full of energy after their tired-looking squad were afforded a week off due to the Challenge Cup last weekend with the Warriors facing Hull KR as they look to try and get themselves into top 5 contention.

  • The Warriors looked set to start with Jarrod Sammut in the halves after he came off the bench last time out but he has surprisingly been left out of the 19-man squad with no reason given for his absence.

  • Liam Farrell makes a welcome return from a torn pectoral which he suffered in the early stages of the year whilst Liam Marshall, Tommy Leuluai and Sam Powell are also back in the squad but Joe Greenwood is out with a rib issue.

THE PREDICTION

The uncertainty surrounding Hull KR this week came to a head when they sacked Tim Sheens and replaced him with Tony Smith but their preparation for this game will have been hindered by having three different coaches taking training sessions this week. This is a huge contest for both teams with Wigan still harbouring hopes of a top 5 finish but they must start picking up wins sooner rather than later. The Warriors enjoyed the week off last week and should have some refreshed bodies for this game and although Rovers will be hoping for a new coach ‘bounce’, the away side can edge this.
