THE LOWDOWN

ADRIAN LEWIS

  • Lewis produced a solid display in his 3-0 first round win over Ted Evetts as he averaged 97.20 to avoid a repeat of his shock opening round defeat last year.
  • The two-time world champion was impressive in his finishing as he hit 52.94% of his doubles and that aspect in particular will have pleased him as he seeks a return to the top echelons of the game.
  • Lewis often brings his best game to Alexandra Palace, having reached at least the quarter-final stage on eight previous occasions.

DARIUS LABANAUSKAS

  • Labanauskus produced a shock in the second round by eliminating five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld in what was the Dutchman's penultimate appearance at the PDC World Darts Championship.
  • The Lithuanian stated that the win over Barney was the biggest of his career and that it has given him plenty of confidence going into this clash with another big name.
  • One area Labanauskus will need to improve upon is his doubling as he has hit less than a third of his attempts across his two matches so far.

THE PREDICTION

Labanauskus will be hoping lightning can strike twice after his sensational win over Raymond van Barneveld as he faces another former world champion in the third round. Lewis, though, produced a classy display in his opener against Evetts and appears to have found form at the right time. Jackpot was clinical on Thursday, and is the likely winner against the Lithuanian BDO player if he plays to his ability.
