THE TEAM NEWS

SYDNEY ROOSTERS

Head Coach: Trent Robinson

Starting 13: Tedesco, Tupou, Mitchell, Manu, Ikuvalu, Keary, Cronk, Waerea-Hargreaves, Radley, Taukeiaho, Cordner, Crichton, Liu – Interchanges: Butcher, Tetevano, Tupouniua, Aubusson – Reserves: Collins, Curran, Lam, Verrills

Unavailable: Ryan Hall, Billy Smith, Brett Morris, Jake Friend

  • Sydney Roosters continued their superb run of form as they comfortably saw off Wests Tigers thanks to a Latrell Mitchell hat-trick which made it seven consecutive wins for the Tricolours.

  • Matt Ikuvalu was a late withdrawal last week but comes back into contention for the Roosters to further boost their options here and will line-up on the wing providing he can prove his fitness.

  • The return of Ikuvalu sees Mitch Aubusson move back to the bench where he will provide his utility value with Lindsay Collins dropping out of the 17 as the Roosters attempt to make it an eighth-straight NRL victory.

CANBERRA RAIDERS

Head Coach: Ricky Stuart

Starting 13: Nicoll-Klokstad, Cotric, Croker, Oldfield, Rapana, Wighton, Williams, Papalii, Hodgson, Lui, Young, Whitehead, Sutton – Interchanges: Havili, Simonsson, Soliola, Horsburgh – Reserves: Sezer, Guler

Unavailable: Joe Tapine, John Bateman, Joey Leilua

  • Canberra produced a great display to get back to winning ways as they were too good for Penrith but they have suffered some bad injury news this week which has dampened spirits within the Raiders camp.

  • They will be without centre Joey Leilua for the remainder of the season after he underwent surgery on a neck problem whilst John Bateman will also be out for around six weeks after he suffered a fractured eye socket.

  • Hudson Young takes Bateman’s place in the second row with Michael Oldfield again slotting in to the centre spot vacated by Leilua whilst Jordan Rapana has been passed fit following a rib injury with Bailey Simonsson dropping to the bench.

THE PREDICTION

Sydney Roosters have been untouchable since Round 1 and have won seven matches in a row but face an intriguing contest with Canberra. The Raiders have been the surprise package of the NRL so far having only lost two matches but the loss of John Bateman is big. He has given them a real spark with his energetic and all-action performances with him leaving a large gap in the side and coupled with the loss of Joey Leilua, the Roosters will be able to capitalise on their opponents’ misfortune to make it eight wins in a row.
