THE TEAM NEWS

GOLD COAST TITANS

Head Coach: Garth Brennan

Starting 13: Brimson, Don, Arthars, Kelly, Copley, Roberts, Jacks, Wallace, Peats, Fotuaika, Cartwright, Peachey, Arrow – Interchanges: Rein, Boyd, Whitbread, Stockwell – Reserves: Matthews, King, Sami, Lee

Unavailable: Ryan James, Michael Gordon, Ash Taylor, Keegan Hipgrave, Kevin Proctor

  • Gold Coast overcame the loss of key playmaker Ash Taylor last week as they defeated Queensland rivals Brisbane in a shock win and will look to build on that performance as they host an out-of-sorts New Zealand Warriors.

  • Bryce Cartwright and Tyrone Peachey will form a new second row for the Titans after Kevin Proctor and Keegan Hipgrave were ruled out with a fractured eye-socket and suspension respectively.

  • Shannon Boyd returns to the bench having been left out last week in the only other change to the side and he will be eager to impress after being given the chance to return so soon due to those injuries.

NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS

Head Coach: Stephen Kearney

Starting 13: Tuivasa-Sheck, Fusitu’a, Hiku, Herbert, Maumalo, Nikorima, Green, Paasi, Luke, Ah Mau, Papali’i, Harris, Blair – Interchanges: Tevaga, Afoa, Burr, Lawton – Reserves: Beale, Harris-Tavita, Sao, Pulu

Unavailable: Nathaniel Roache

  • New Zealand Warriors failed to build on their strong start as they conceded 30 unanswered points to fall to a big loss at home to Melbourne and they now travel to Gold Coast who secured a confidence-boosting win last week.

  • Despite a big loss last week, the Warriors have resisted the urge to make sweeping changes with Patrick Herbert and Jazz Tevaga coming straight back into the side after they missed out last week with the latter completing a ban.

  • Gerard Beale drops to the reserves whilst Chris Satae does not even feature on the list of reserves as head coach Stephen Kearney attempts to turn his side’s form around having won just two of their last eight games.

THE PREDICTION

Gold Coast threw in another unpredictable performance as they defeated in-form Brisbane last week. They now host another side that struggle for consistency but the Warriors have now lost six of their last eight matches as the pressure increases on Stephen Kearney with the Titans able to win again. The Warriors have only won two games outside of New Zealand so far this season and whilst this should present a great chance for them to win again, they have shown little to suggest they can turn their poor run of form around.
