THE TEAM NEWS

CANBERRA RAIDERS

Head Coach: Ricky Stuart

Starting 13: Nicoll-Klokstad, Simonsson, Croker, Cotric, Rapana, Wighton, Sezer, Papalii, Havili, Lui, J. Bateman, Whitehead, Tapine – Interchanges: Starling, Guler, Soliola, Sutton – Reserves: Williams, Hunt, Oldfield, Kris

Unavailable: Joey Leilua, Luke Bateman, Josh Hodgson, Hudson Young

  • Canberra claimed a superb away victory as they kept Wests Tigers scoreless in a 0-28 win to make it back-to-back NRL successes and now return to the nation’s capital for a mouth-watering clash with Cronulla.

  • The Raiders have named the same 17 that thrashed the Tigers last week although there could be some positional changes come kick-off with Josh Papalii and Dunamis Lui moving into the run-on side.

  • That sees Ryan Sutton and Sia Soliola reverting back to the bench although head coach Ricky Stuart may opt to shuffle his side around again before kick-off as the Raiders attempt to make it three wins in a row.

CRONULLA-SUTHERLAND SHARKS

Head Coach: John Morris

Starting 13: Moylan, Feki, Xerri, Morris, Dugan, Flanagan, Townsend, Fifita, B. Brailey, Prior, Nikora, Capewell, Gallen – Interchanges: Graham, Bukuya, Williams, Hamlin-Uele – Reserves: Gray, Sorensen, Magoulias, Johnson

Unavailable: Aaron Woods, Jayden Brailey

  • Cronulla continue to impress as they made it four wins from their last five as they comfortably defeated Parramatta last week but face a tough trip to Canberra as they bid to extend that run.

  • Shaun Johnson is expected to make his return from injury this week having been named amongst the reserves once again whilst NSW centre Josh Morris is also back for the Sharks with Aaron Gray making way and Josh Dugan shifting to the wing.

  • In the only other change for the Sharks, Blayke Brailey replaces older brother Jayden at rake with the latter picking up a knee injury in last week’s win over Parramatta so he will sit out this one.

THE PREDICTION

This has the potential to be the game of Round 14 with both Canberra and Cronulla capable of big things this season. They both find themselves on 16 points and with the race for the play-offs a fierce battle, this game will be no different for the two evenly-matched teams. Either side can lay claim to coming out on top but it’s the defence that should settle this one and Canberra have been better in that respect so far this season which can see them edge it.
