THE STATISTICS

THE LOWDOWN

WARRINGTON WOLVES

Head Coach: Steve Price

Squad: Akauola, K. Brown, M. Brown, Charnley, Clark, Crosby, Cooper, Goodwin, Hughes, G. King, T. King, Lineham, Murdoch-Masila, Patton, Philbin, Pomeroy, Roberts, Smith, Westwood

Unavailable: Ben Currie, Stefan Ratchford, Chris Hill, Ryan Atkins, Harvey Livett

  • Warrington almost blew a big lead at Wakefield in their last outing but managed to hold on for an important two points. The Wolves were leading 6-22 at the break but a Wakefield fightback closed the gap to just two points at full-time as it ended 30-32.

  • Steve Price has rested England internationals Stefan Ratchford and Chris Hill whilst Ryan Atkins and Harvey Livett are out through injury. George and Toby King come into the 19-man squad along with Morgan Smith and Ben Pomeroy.

  • Warrington have won six of their nine home matches in Super League this season which includes winning five of their last six at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

SALFORD RED DEVILS

Head Coach: Ian Watson

Squad: Bennion, Bibby, Burke, Chamberlain, Flanagan, Griffin, Johnson, Littlejohn, Lui, Mossop, Murray, Nakubuwai, Olpherts, Sa’u, Shorrocks, Tasi, Tomkins, Welham, Wood

Unavailable: Kriss Brinning, Luke Burgess, Niall Evalds, Josh Jones, Craig Kopczak, Tyrone McCarthy

  • Salford snapped their five-game losing streak with an important win against Widnes in their last game. The Red Devils are three points outside of the top 8 and still have a chance of making the Super 8s after their 26-12 win.

  • Mark Flanagan and Lee Mossop return to the squad after recovering from knocks with Craig Kopczak and Tyrone McCarthy dropping out of the 19.

  • Salford have won just one of their eight away matches in Super League this season, scoring just 82 points in those eight games.

THE PREDICTION

Warrington will be missing a few key players as they host Salford with Stefan Ratchford and Chris Hill given the week off after representing England in Denver last weekend. They will believe they have enough to get the job done against a Salford side who have scored just 82 points from eight away games this season. The Red Devils are still in with a shout of avoiding the Middle 8s but will need to be more consistent in the last five games before the split and find some form away from home. With just one win on the road this season, it’s difficult to see them toppling Warrington here who should claim a comfortable win.
