St Helens beat Widnes on Easter Monday to maintain their lead at the top of the Super League table. Saints won both games over Easter, defeating Widnes 6-28 to back-up Good Friday’s win against Wigan.
Justin Holbrook once again names an unchanged squad as his side came out of the Easter period with a clean bill of health.
In terms of points scored per game, St Helens are the second highest scoring team in the league an average of 28.4 points per game. Only local rivals Wigan are outscoring them with their opponents in this the third highest scorers although Hull are only averaging 23.3.
Marc Sneyd’s amazing drop-goal sealed a win for Hull against Wakefield on Easter Monday. Sneyd was in his own half but nailed the kick with just a minute left to give his side the win in a thrilling 27-26 encounter, a result which saw Hull claim their second win of the Easter period after beating local rivals Hull KR on Good Friday.
Jamie Shaul, Carlos Tuimavave, Jordan Lane and Danny Houghton were all rested for the Wakefield game and should return to the side in this one. Youngster Jez Litten also receives a call-up to the 19-man squad after an impressive performance on Easter Monday. Second rower Sika Manu returns from injury whilst Bureta Faraimo serves a one-game ban for his red card against Hull KR on Good Friday.
Hull head into this game on the back of three consecutive wins as they look to build some consistency that was lacking in the early stages of the season. However, of their five wins this year, only one has been away from home.
Two of the three teams to come out of the Easter period with maximum points face off in front of the Sky cameras as St Helens host Hull. Saints have proven to be the team to beat this season and increased their lead at the top of the table to four points after a strong showing against both Wigan and Widnes. Hull climbed up to fifth with two impressive wins in their own rights against Hull KR and Wakefield. All of the signs point to a St Helens win and they should maintain their impressive record this season in a tough encounter.
